MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA – October 25, 2022 – Technology from TVU Networks, a market and technology leader in cloud and IP-based live video production, is leveling the playing field for all sports at the University of New Mexico (UNM). Using TVU RPS (Remote Production System), the school is ensuring that all game broadcasts enjoy the same high production standards. Thanks to TVU RPS, fans of all broadcasted sports at UNM, regardless of audience size, will experience the same high-quality, live broadcast traditionally reserved for football and basketball.

TVU RPS aggregates multiple high bandwidth Ethernet connections to perfectly synchronize different remote sources to a central production studio.

“Prior to working with TVU Networks, we produced everything from the event site. That meant hauling equipment to and from each location and all of the associated setup,” explained Chase Christiansen, Assistant AD for Creative Services, UNM. “With TVU RPS we simply plug our cameras into the RPS encoder, and we receive everything back at the decoder in our production room, allowing us to produce matches from one, central studio. It not only saves our crew a lot of time, but it also saves our equipment from a lot of wear and tear.”

Added Christiansen, “Being able to use our multi-camera instant replay system elevates the viewing experience of our coverage for all sports programs. The TVU system has been easy to learn, affordable, and done so much more than we ever expected.”

In addition to the instant replays, the University also adds graphics, switcher effects and high-level audio to coverage of all sporting events. “Soccer, volleyball, baseball, softball, you name it, they all get the same level of production that was previously reserved only for basketball and football.”

“We’re happy that TVU RPS is helping UNM bring the same quality coverage across all of their sports programs,” said Greg Doggett, VP of Sports, and Strategic Alliances, TVU Networks. “Remote production for sports has become a sure way for organizations to deliver more live content and engage more fans while managing delivery costs. TVU RPS continues to be the premiere choice for REMI applications.”
